Social Triggers

Social Triggers allow you to drive social traffic to your broadcast or website based on what's playing on the air!

Futuri technology is tied directly to your automation system, providing you with many opportunities to send automatic Twitter notifications based on an artist or title.

Our Social Triggers feature is currently being used to assist with contesting, and drive traffic to related site content.

Here's how to create your own Social Triggers in the Futuri Control Room:

1. On the menu on the left side of the page, choose Social Triggers from the #WHATSHOULDPLAYNEXT section of the menu.

2. At the bottom of the page, click New Social Triggers.

3. Choose the Alert Type. You can create a Social Trigger that's associated with a particular song, or any song by a particular artist.

4. Start typing the name of the artist/song you'd like to associate this Social Trigger with. This can be any artist/song that you've played in the last 30 days. If you need to use an artist/song that has not played on air in the last 30 days, please contact Futuri VIP Support.

5. Set the Repeat number. The Social Trigger will be sent up to this number of times, and will then expire. If you don't want to set a numbered limit, you can leave this field blank.

6. Set a Start Time and an End Time window for the Social Trigger to be allowed to be sent.

7. Finally, add a few Templates for your Social Trigger. These templates will rotate evenly (unless one template produces a tweet longer than 140 characters, in which case it will be skipped and the next template will be used). Each template must contain at least one of the following replacement tokens:

  • %w: LDR Voting Window Name
  • %s: Station Name
  • %l: Link to station website (lowercase L, not capital I)
  • %a: Artist Twitter Handle (includes the @ symbol)
  • %t: Song Title

Social Trigger examples

Here’s an example of a completed Social Trigger form:

As another example, pick 3-5 songs in your rotation, and create a Twitter campaign with Social Triggers (maybe swapping them out weekly). Using that concept, a Social Trigger might say "We're playing %t by %a on %s right NOW thanks to you! Vote for your favorite songs at %l!"

WBLS in New York City used Social Triggers to drive traffic to their WBLS-TV feature. Whenever they played Deborah Cox on the air, a Social Trigger was sent, encouraging the station's Twitter followers to check out Deborah's interview on WBLS-TV. Deborah herself retweeted the Social Trigger to her 227,000 followers!
